FEW и LITTLE 

Оба слова переводятся как «мало», «недостаточно», то есть «не так много, как хотелось или ожидалось». Few употребляется с исчисляемыми, little — с неисчисляемыми.

Emma studies every day. She has little time for parties. Эмма учится каждый день. У неё мало времени на вечеринки.

I moved to Moscow recently. I have few friends there. Я недавно переехал в Москву. У меня там мало друзей.

A FEW и A LITTLE 

Неопределённый артикль а полностью меняет смысл слов: в этом случае a few и a little переводятся как «несколько», означая «немного, но достаточно». A few ставим с исчисляемыми, a little — с неисчисляемыми.

Let’s go get coffee. We have a little time before work. Пойдём возьмём кофе. У нас есть немного времени перед работой.

I enjoy living in this city. I have a few friends and we meet every weekend. Мне нравится жить в этом городе. У меня есть несколько друзей, и мы встречаемся каждые выходные.

Полезным будут выражения quite a few (довольно много, немало) и a good few (добрая половина).

Обрати внимание, что a little может быть и наречием в значении «немного».

She smiled a little. Она немного улыбнулась.

Ещё существуют выражения a little of и a few of, которые переводятся как «малая часть из».
